WXII Starts The Swiftboating

Bill O'Neil at WXII does this(click on Ad Truth Check) piece on Vernon Robinson's new radio ad. I did some research into the actual facts of the voting allegations and have talked with the Miller campaign to ask some questions. What I am about to reveal shows how easy it is to twist and distort a Congressman's voting record.

In this radio ad Vernon Robinson alleges that Congressman Miller voted against a fence on the boarder. What actually happened was Congressman Miller voted for a fence along the border in H.AMDT.648, the Hunter of California Amendment to James Sensenbrenner's Immigration Bill, HR4437. Congressman Miller did wind up voting against the very fence he wanted because the Immigration bill in house was overall a bad bill. Not a flip-flop, just sticking to his principals.

The ad then goes on to say that Brad Miller voted for gay marriage. I spoke with Congressman Miller the other night at the Green Bean in Greensboro about his views. What I got out of this conversation was that Rep. Miller does not feel it is the federal governments role who gets married and who doesn't. I guess that means that it would be up to the states to decide this issue. I happen to agree, if that's what it means. The vote in question in the ad is on HJ.RES.106. Voting record here. Voting against a bill because you think it is not the feds role and supporting what the bill is against, are two separate things.

As far as burning the flag goes, Rep. Miller did vote against eroding your 1st amendment rights away, one piece at a time. I happen to think the same way. This is America, and my Constitutional rights are supposed to be protected. One of those rights is freedom of expression, and if I want to burn a US flag to express myself, then I should have that right. Kudos Congressman Miller, someone is looking out for my civil liberties. By the way, the part about the Mexican flag waiving: you can blame a Republican led Congress, the LA Archdiocese and supporters of breaking the law for allowing the Mexican flag waiving, but don't tag an individual Congressman, especially one who has never called for Illegals to rally and waive a foreign flag.

It is so easy to distort the facts when your game is hate and fear. This seems to be a lot of the GOP motto, "hate and fear". So when you hear a campaign ad, whether it is a Republican or a Democrat, know that facts are twisted in a lot of cases, kind of like quoting someone out of context.

What is not in Vernon's campaign ad is, what I believe is, his master plan. Liberty Dollars. Ed has the scoop here. Vernon wants to replace the current currency system with one where he would stand to make around 40% off the people.

Also not in the ad is how Vernon supports the Federal government deciding who lives and dies(Teri Schiavo,etc..). I don't care what anyone says, some DC suit is not holding that decision anymore then they already do with our economy, social services and domestic policy. There is already to much control handed over to a Republican led White House and Congress. For a party that once preached against big government, they sure got large.

Bill O'Neil should do some research before he opens his mouth. I did and I don't have interns and it didn't take me all that long. Mr. O'Neil should retract his opinionated statement or state it as such, an opinion. That is fact. Yes, the Miller campaign made a statement which did not deny any of the false claims in Robinson's ad. I take that as someone who doesn't want to sling mud and run hate ads. I take that as someone who isn't afraid of his opponent and feels no need to expend time defending himself against a chronic steam blower who can't even keep a job on a city council in a red county.

Shame on WXII again.

I would be remiss if I didn't say that we are there in hopes of finding ways to improve our campaign, both technologically and by continuing to build our network of supporters (which we hope will include the blogging community). We will be meeting from 7pm to 9pm at Green Bean on S. Elm St.

WXII Continues To Have No Clue

Read this article about Brad Miller's stop in Greensboro on Tuesday the 18th.

I would bet my twig and two berries that the have the political affiliations backwards.

If You Want Sick, Twisted and Out of Touch: Vote For Vernon

Vernon wants to start a fight. I've been called out as a lefty blog. Big surprise. I am. If he wanted my attention, he's got it. Game on bitch.

My first plan of attack: Vernon uses the music and logo from the Twilight Zone. Twilight Zone's rights are owned by CBS TV. He also uses a clip from Leave it to Beaver, owned by Universal Studio's. I wonder if he paid his licensing fees to both parties. Well, we'll find out. I have contacts at both places and early Monday morning I should have my answer. Can anyone say copyright infringement or better yet, lawsuit.

This man must be stopped. Go back to the video link and read the comments, the one by Mr. Hendrix is especially interesting. Sure he wants votes. Why is he so scared of Vernon though?
Vernon adopted a campaign slogan during one of his prior unsuccessful runs for office.

"Jesse Helm's is back, and this time he's black."

That alone should deter you for voting for Vernon.

If you are a registered independent or a Republican in the 13th, I urge you to vote in the Rebuplican primary and vote against this evil, self-hating, all hating man. Vote for one of the other two candidates in this primary, if you vote Vernon you don't know what you are getting into.

Addressing Immigration

Why does everything in Washington always have to take the hardest road to get there? I have kept silent on this issue, but I have formed opinions. One I hate to admit, and you'll never hear me say this again, is I kind of agree with some of the Sensenbrenner bill from the house. Reason being, the term "Illegal Immigrant". It's right in the title folks, "Illegal". I am not just talking about Latinos, I am talking about all illegals. Irish, Italian, Canadian, Israeli, etc... You get the point. The undocumented immigrants that are here, are here illegally. That is the bottom line. They broke the law. If we let them off scott free, then we must empty our jails for all crimes committed. Those people after all broke the law as well and deserve the same kind of treatment. I am sure if any one of us went to another country illegally, we would pay the consequences. Either deportation or criminal charges.

Now to address a problem that has grown astronomically in the past decade or so. Let's ask ourselves, how did the United States of America handle an influx of immigrants back in the day? We set up Ellis Island and processed immigrants to make them citizens of our country. Lets ask ourselves, why can't we do something similar again? Can we not set up processing centers in all the major cities to give a reasonable number of immigrants the chance to become full tax paying citizens of this country? By reasonable number I do not mean 12 million. The big question is what is a reasonable number? 6 million? 4 million? Once we obtain this reasonable number we then have to tighten the borders.

Let's say 6 million is the reasonable number. The other 6 million undocumented illegal immigrants should have 30 days to leave the country. After 30 days, if caught here illegally, they would face felony charges, and after jail time, be deported to their country of origin. We also have to tighten border security to prevent further border crossings. Lastly, we must impose penalties on those who aide and abet illegals. Employer's, property owners, organizations, and churches. If you are found aiding and abetting illegals, there would be a $100,000 fine and up to five years in prison. That should deter folks.

The government also has a responsibility to help citizens in this situation. The current Federal minimum wage is $5.15 an hour. That must be raised to the levels that one can live, without government assistance, in most Metropolitan areas. There was a study talked about on CNN last week(still looking for a link), where the CEO's and average workers salaries raised hand in hand for some time. Recently, 1997 on, there is a large discrepancy between the raises in salary for CEO's and their employees, with the CEO's having a decided upper hand. Americans would do these jobs that the Bush Administration says we won't do, if the pay was better. Hell, I'd pick fruit for the right price.

I'm not saying that my plan would work. I'm just saying that what is going on in DC is not going to. So, I offered this idea as an alternative. Let's see if anyone notices in DC. I'm not holding my breath.

Please try an attend. My feeling is that Rep Miller wants to step into our world and see what is important to us. I spoke to his District office about a year ago and they were interested in our world then. Let us try and make him feel welcome. A House Rep, coffee, beer and wi-fi. What more could we ask for?
